Nani Kama Mama (Bagamoyo, 2015)


Nani Kama Mama ("No one like mother") is the first collaborative film of the Bagamoyo Film Collective. It is a movie about poverty, self responsibility and street justice in Tanzania. The young man Pesambili lives with his mother in poverty. When his mother becomes seriously ill, Pesambili leaves his village to seek for money for the life saving medicine. On his journey to a little harbour town he meets a storyteller on the marketplace, who tells the children in the neighbourhood an old Tanzanian fairytale. Passing by and listening to the story of a king, a monster and a little boy Pesambili makes a fateful decision.

Hatua Kwa Hatua (Bagamoyo, 2018)




Hatua Kwa Hatua ("Step by Step") is the second collaborative film of the Bagamoyo Film Collective. It is a film about the relationship and dynamics of environment and everyday life. The film tells the story of Mama K and her husband. He is a fisherman, but he hasn’t found fish for a long time, because of the overfished sea. Mama K becomes the main provider for the family. That leads to conflicts in their relationship. And there is a community theatre group thinking about their next street performance.

Tabia (Bagmoyo, 2019)



Tabia (Behaviour) is the third collaborative film of the Bagamoyo Film Collective. A young man celebrates with his friends at a party. The next morning he finds himself in prison and nothing will ever be like it was before. Tabia is a film about friendship and behaviour, crime and a helpless search for the truth.

Fear and Fever (Tanzania, 2019)
 

The film is an athmospheric review of the performance FEAR & FEVER and its events in Tanzania (Bagamoyo festival of arts and culture & Little Theatre Dar es Salaam). Fear and Fever is a performance abotu Malaria. It is inspired by debates about disease, medicine and belief systems. Flinn Works (Berlin) and Asedeva (Dar es Salaam) explore the unequal world of malaria in a theatre-science lab. Clinical studies oscillate with historical reenactments, scientific choreographies and TED talks.

Mazingira ni Afya (Zanzibar, 2018)


Mazingira ni afya (Environment and Health) is a film about a group of environmental activist from Zanzibar. Provoked by the critical health conditions of a team member the bearable has been exceeded. For which reason the group starts actions against ecological destruction caused by littering waste. Only a clean environment can establish healthy living conditions. But the question remains: how to change peoples behaviour?

Mazingiri ni afya was largely financed by the foundation Freundinnen und Freunde der Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung and realized in cooperation with Zanzibar Bora Association.

Mtazamo (Bagamoyo, 2017)



Nobody can look into a human. People use to smile even though their life is tough. People have dreams. People are left with limited options. Mtazamo is a film about difficult living conditions that hinder talents and dreams which can lead to wrong decisions.

Mtazamo is the directors début of Dominic P. Mushi and Frank K. Bernard. The short film was fully financed by the Bagamoyo Film Collective and realized in cooperation with FURSA Bagamoyo.

Umoja (Berlin, 2017)

Umoja is an abstract collage of sequences. The short film deals with questions of togetherness, belonging and empowerment. The film was realised in an encounter between students from TaSuBa College Bagamyo, Freie Universität Berlin and filmArche e.V.

Visions of Togetherness (Berlin, 2017)

Visions of Togetherness aims to be a participatory „Making-of“ movie. The film follows a transcultural movie production. Students from Tanzania and Germany came together, in a collaborative manner, to develop an ethnofictional story with the focus on „Future Visions“. Resulting in the short film / collage Umoja.
